Quick checklist

  • Measure the piece at its widest points
  • Measure every doorway, turn, and stair landing
  • Remove contents and personal property
  • Share parking, elevator, and loading details

Start with the sofa, then measure the route

Measure the sofa at its widest, tallest, and deepest points. Record the body dimensions before assuming removable feet or cushions will solve the tightest turn. Then measure the smallest doorway, hall width, stair width, ceiling height over stairs, and elevator opening along the route.

Check every change of direction

A sofa can fit through a door and still fail at the next ninety-degree turn. Note narrow landings, railings, low lights, wall art, and door closers. A quick phone video of the route can communicate more than a single room photo.

Make a useful pickup note

Write down sofa type, dimensions, room and floor, removable sections, number of stairs, elevator availability, parking distance, and any building access window. Do not disassemble a sleeper mechanism or heavy frame unless you know the manufacturer procedure and can do it safely.

Before you schedule

Send or describe the item list and route details, then confirm scope, price, timing, and exclusions directly. For this pickup type, see Couch & Sofa Removal or prepare your estimate notes.
